Stopped for lunch on way up to Cow Green reservoir with our dog. Lovely warm welcome, sat in the bar next to the open fire. Good menu, plenty of choices, large portions and not at all expensive.
I run a lunch club for senior citizens and I recently took them to Langdon Beck Hotel for a lunch outing. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious, and all of my members enjoyed their lunch. The hotel is also set in some of the most fantastic countryside and well worth a visit. Will definitely be calling again.
We stopped off here after walking around the reservoir and saw the pub as we were driving past. We had a really lovely, hearty lunch! I’m shocked at the persons comment further below re. overpricing, as this is simply not the case. The prices were extremely reasonable for the big portion sizes we received and when you compare to your average pub during a time of increased costs, the food was a complete bargain! The steak pie was full of meat and we had the roast sandwiches- again full of meat and really tasty. The staff were really friendly and it was nice to experience a local pub in the area. They even put some extra logs on the fire for us. Great value for money and a good range of pub food. We would definitely eat here again.
Stopped after a wet and windy walk. 3pm fish&chips scampi&chips home cooked chips huge potions lovely food. Even brought some cooked meats out for the dog. Lovely staff. Nice and cosy. Will be back next year in the campervan
We had a hire car for the day and stopped here with our mastiff, after a walk around the reservoir. We had a pot of tea, a coffee and a couple of pieces of amazing chocolate cake. All of which were perfect. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, there was a roaring log fire in the bar, the place was spotlessly clean and the views were stunning. All in all 10/10 The only problem was that we couldn't stop the night, but next time we hire a car, we'll be back.
