Called in here on the off chance of having lunch on New Years Day and were not disappointed . Staff were very friendly , pub is dog friendly and the food was fresh and absolutely delicious . We’ll definitely be back !
Lovely traditional pub. No frills, but very friendly. We popped in for a meal on New Year's eve and it was delicious. Very flavoursome tomato and basil soup, and the chicken tikka and lasagne were both really excellent. Nice atmosphere in the pub too. Will definitely return on our next visit up the dale..
It's been a long time between drinks as the last time I was here was in 2016. St Johns Chapel is a very pleasant village in County Durham. It was a very enjoyable visit the pint of Shipyard was very good. As was the pint of Weardale smooth. Hopefully, I will not have to wait quite so long until the next visit.
Made to feel welcome from when we first stepped through the door. Dog friendly, child friendly, owners are happy to offer local recommendations on places to visit and were so friendly. We made a reservation here for dinner & were not disappointed with the food. The kids loved their carbonara, the chilli was great and the tikka masala was full of flavour! If you are passing through on your holidays, be sure to pop in here, even for a quick one! :)
Went to the Golden Lion for a meal after a surprise trip to weardale activity centre. Food was lovely and well priced. Jenny and her family (owners) were very accommodating and they served a perfect snake bite! Really lovely pub
