About us

The luxury is in the choice of food, the wine, the bed linen, the art on the walls and the people looking after you.

Our look is a mix of old and new furniture and art; combining colours and beautiful fabrics with original vintage features and existing distressed walls.

Cheaper materials are treated as precious items and preserved for their beauty and memory of the Inn. The relaxed atmosphere and pleasant surroundings sell themselves; you won’t be disappointed!

The George Inn Wedmore serves Real Ales from the cask, Butcombe Bitter & Sharpe’s Doom Bar as well as Orchard Pig & Thatcher’s Ciders, with Wilkins cider available seasonally.

We also serve a fine selection of Continental lagers.

At The George Inn Wedmore, our food ingredients are sourced as locally as possible, and seasonal produce is put to full use by by our award-winning head chef Richard Sampson and his team, allowing us to create great tasting food whilst maintaining variety.

Absolutely lovely food & friendly service. Can highly recommend both fish dishes. You get the quality you pay for. Love it here, if only I lived in the village, would come more often.

We came to The George last night for a birthday meal. The pub is lovely, the food is first rate but unfortunately the staff let it down! We felt rushed and an inconvenience! One of the waitresses nearly broke the bottle of wine as she slammed it onto our table! and the other waitress was just rude… we said we weren’t quite ready to order but were told, you need to order now!! We appreciate that it’s a busy time of year but it doesn’t hurt to crack a smile!! So anyway, we’ll be heading to The Swan next time, as we’d rather pay double the price and actually feel welcome!

The food was mediocre and the staff were polite some of the time and the bar man was rude. This pub used to be good but since it has been bought out by the rich people in the area they have turned it into a high priced pub ( although the drinks drinks are reasonably priced). Not a family pub.

We love this place! The staff and management are so customer orientated and the chef has wonderful ideas with food. Our last visit was with a party of 3 and the team were so thoughtful with the seating arrangements. The fish dishes here are beautifully cooked and it's so nice to see whole fish on the menu and usual things such as skate wing (fabulous by the way!) Prices are very reasonable too and it can be both a casual dining or full on dress up for dinner experience. A great asset to the Cheddar Valley!

Chose to go here last night for food and had a great time. Staff were all very friendly, welcoming and accommodating and the service was fast. Gabriel who waited for us was kind and helpful and the lady who also helped us was brilliant to.
