This classic village inn is the centre for many local events including the famous annual turnip prize, spoof and penny chuffin'. The public bar, lounge and dining areas are complemented by a beer garden to the rear.
A chalkboard lists forthcoming ales, mainly from the west country, all served from two handpumps and two on gravity. Traditional, good-value home cooked food is served. There is a skittle alley/function room and winter skittles and darts provide a hive of activity.
Popped in for steak night with friends. Warm welcome , good range of beers, super tasty food from a short menu with a couple of veggie options, outstanding value for money, definitely worth a return when next in the area
Popped in on our first night in Wedmore. I had the burger with delicious blue cheese and hubby had a chicken burger. Food was good, beer a suprise... good suprise for a dark beer drinker and nice wine. Good to see a local pub, with locals in it. Good food, good service, no complaints.
Asked for steak medium rare, came well done. Speciality salmon burger just fishcake in a bun, very dry. We did tell you when asked the food was only ok but you both declined to enquire further. I don't class a fishcake as a speciality burger, it's just a fishcake. We were asked twice how we wanted the steak cooked and it still was well overdone. Your toilets could do with a clean too.
Bank Holiday Monday visit, unfortunately they were not doing food but the landlord offered us a plate of chips with pulled pork and cheese. Absolutely lovely . Great pub vibe, friendly landlord, great garden. Will definitely be visiting again next time we are down in Somerset.
Wow. Great local vibe pub, service and food. Accommodated our slightly picky 8 year old eater, and were great with him. Shame your not closer to Pompey. Keep up the good work. Mart, Claire, Dan James and nanny.

An unspoilt country pub, somewhat off the beaten track although actually quite close to main the Cheddar to Wedmore road. Internally it consists of three rooms, with the “smoking room” and bar counter off to the right as you go in.
