In historic Linlithgow, the 1904 building that's home to The Old Post Office is probably seen by some as the new kid on the block. Step inside to the bright, airy and comfy interior and you'll think it's more modern still. With its high bar and even higher ceiling, it's a big friendly pub that attracts an eclectic mix of customers, from families in for a meal to pensioners calling by for coffee, professionals dropping in after work and a younger crowd checking out the entertainment. Everyone feels at home in a place that's as welcoming to Linlithgow regulars as it is to visitors and newcomers.
On a cold wet winters day inside was not overly warm, in fact I was chilly by the end of my meal. I was not sitting near a door. It's quite a loud pub, football was on with people watching on several tvs, a good buzz about the place and music on too. Maybe not the best choice for us having a quiet catch up but great food and i cannot fault the service.
The food was lovely, and the staff were really nice, it was just a shame the food came out very randomly. 2 of us got our starters when 2 of us got mains, then there was a fairly long wait, and then another 2 starters came out with another main, they finished their meals, more waiting and another 2 meals came out and so on. There seemed to be no order to things coming out of the kitchen. I suppose it might not have helped that we ordered separately, but I would have thought an establishment like this would be able to cater to a group at one table ordering separately. The guy did apologise for the wait, though it did put a bit of a damper on the evening.
Nice pub , very good atmosphere
Fantastic food and drinks range, great and attentive service from the team. The live music offerings on a Friday coupled with the DJ on a Saturday make a great weekend visit, but the midweek sport and atmosphere is also great. Well worth the visit and highly recommended venue if you're in the area.
First time here and it was so good! Food was absolutely amazing. Prices are really reasonable too. Will definitely be back!

The Marys in question are the four ladies-in-waiting of Mary, Queen of Scots, who was born over the road in Linlithgow Palace. Back then, there was no pub here, but the building The Four Marys occupies was already standing as a family home.
