About us

It means this welcoming family-friendly pub has a tremendous historical atmosphere. With its low ceiling, stone walls, cosy corners and attractive bar, it feels like it's been here for ever. The great range of 40 malt whiskies, 10 Scottish Gins and ever changing real ales, such as Caledonian Deuchars and Belhaven St. Andrews, adds to the air of tradition - as does the delicious menu of classic dishes.

The Four Marys prides itself on having a quiet, friendly atmosphere for friends and families to enjoy good conversation, great food, great service and great beer. The fact that its former residents include David Waldie, the man who discovered the anaesthetic properties of chloroform, only adds to the atmosphere of history and tradition. As well as hosting live music every Friday and once a month on the Saturday, The Four Marys has a wide range of every changing ales along with our house favourites of Caledonian Deuchars IPA, Belhaven St. Andrews and Thistly Cross Farmhouse Cider and holds a “Meet the Brewer” night once a month to give you the chance to meet the brewer and find out a little more about how your favourite ale is made. Speak to one of our members of staff about booking our atmospheric lounge for a party of your own.

Best pub around! The Four Marys is more than its iconic name; nestled on Linlithgow’s High St they have the coziest atmosphere, the absolute best selection of cask beers (which is constantly rotating, so be sure to check out what’s pouring every week!) and the friendliest staff around! Whether your looking for a nice a spot of lunch/dinner, a beer with friends or catching some live music at the weekend, this pub has you covered 👌✨🙌🍻 10/10

Four Mary's is a quaint little pub in the main street of Linlithgow. The atmosphere is warm and inviting with a fireplace in the eating area. The food is sensational and could only be topped by the friendly staff. They were getting busy when we were there and yet the staff still had time for a chat.

Fish and chips was great but I made a wrong decision of ordering seafood risotto. It was basically frozen seafood with rice. I don’t blame them cos I was probably the only one ordering it in 50 years lol. They did their best as a pub. I think ordering pub classics would be the safest and best option at the Four Mary’s. Service was great, there was only one waiter at the whole restaurant section. Atmosphere was excellent with a nice fireplace.

We visited the Four Mary's in 1999 and we enjoyed the nostalgia and same wonderful experience this September. When you go be sure to read the menu and learn about the rich history of this wonderful bar and pub. The fish and chips were amazing!

Last minute booking for dinner and they were able to accommodate us. We had a lovely meal of fish and chips and sirloin steak and chips. Both of us were full, both of us with empty plates. Service was quick and efficient, food was piping hot and delicious. Would highly recommend The Four Mary's for evening meal out.
