Fantastic pub for lunch, really nice old building with a cosy pub atmosphere. Great food too. The burger doesn't come with any salad or veg, so you might want to get the broccoli as a side if ordering that.

Ate at restaurant on Saturday. Some of us had the mutton pie, more of a shepherds pie. Mutton was overcooked and quite tasteless and very shallow. Came with no vegetables at all apart from a very small portion of crushed peas. Very expensive for what you get. Ambiance and service were very good. Really need to revisit the menu and prices I feel. Whilst the general ambience was lovely, this needs to be backed up with much better food please.

Great location, only a 10 minute walk past the cathedral and you're in the centre. Small car park for guests and we managed to get a space. Checked in and left our bags in the car as room wasn't ready yet. Our room was across the road in another building linked to the pub. The room was on the top floor, up a steep set of stairs. A nice room, but unfortunately not very clean. Thick dust on most surfaces and even some dirt in the toilet. We had a long day of travelling so we literally couldn't be bothered to mention this, but this still isn't acceptable. I can only assume the room wasn't used recently? But still, it was so obvious, you'd think they check the room before guests. Bottles of water and milk in small fridge, but coffee machine quite scaly. Staff were nice and breakfast was good. Part self serve for continental bits and we also ordered a cooked breakfast.

Enjoyed my stay of 10 nights in their Garden Suite. Quaint and cozy room. It had a huge bathroom with slipper tub and separate shower. The double bed was upstairs, small however very comfortable. The Garden Suite is actually across the corner from Wykeham Arms pub, ,and behind it is Jane Austen's house. I loved the fact that is was tucked in back of a great and fully stocked Deli. It was so quiet at night that I could only hear birds chirping in the garden behind it. Outstanding food in the pub (Delicious Sunday Roast!). Housekeeping was great! Great location! The only comment for improvement would be the mini fridge was on the wall and didn't hold very much except drinks and maybe a small yogurt. However all in all great place to stay and affordable. Downside, I just happen to pick the hottest 10 days EVER in Winchester. Staff was friendly and very accommodating.

Visited with friends for the Flavours of Autumn Tasting Menu. The restaurant was very clean and tidy, the log fire made it feel cosy. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The food . . . Was absolutely PHENOMENAL! From the taste to the presentation, everything about it was just outstanding. The timings between each dish was just right and we were always told what each dish was. A variety of all different flavours and it was cooked to perfection! A very enjoyable experience and looking forward to visiting again. Well done Chef!
