Stopped by for a morning coffee and a cake. This place was old cosy and real farm land style. They had log burning stoves. Dog friendly. Staff really helpful abd friendly l. They do have rooms to stay. They do serve food. We only had coffee and cake and it was delicious. Would recommend.
Came on a rainy Wednesday in November. Plenty of parking outside and a great pit stop after exploring the landscape around hardknott pass. On entering there was only 1 other family there so it was very quiet. We rang the bell and were greeted by a lovely lady, we proceeded to order some food along with a well deserved pint. Really good value, tasty food that came out quick and was piping hot, we sat by the fire and just enjoyed this really quaint place. If in the area I would highly recommend stopping off.
Lovely bar & café, popular with walkers & locals alike. Great if you're walking to the Roman Fort at Hardknott Pass. The landlord has a friendly dog. Roaring fires (woodburning stoves), great ales & delicious food.
Really nice accommodation and pub, lovely food especially the pizzas which you can also get to take out. The ensuite shower is amazing and very modern. The rooms have such comfy beds but can be a bit noisy due to other loud guests talking early in the morning on their way to breakfast and music from kitchen from below. So much to do nearby could have stayed a lot longer! WiFi very slow and TV didn't work well hardly any channels working.
After the AA completely abandoned us having lied to us for 5-6 hours, we made the decision to walk the 2.5 miles to the nearest pub before nightfall. Upon arrival at the woolpack we were warmly greeted, they reopened the kitchen to feed us and they recharged my phone behind the bar. They even offered to delay closing for the night until the last of us had managed to make it into a taxi. The food was lovely and the atmosphere really positive. Will certainly be back!
