Situated in Beamish Museum’s 1900s Town, The Sun Inn was moved brick by brick from Bishop Auckland. Note you have to pay entry to Beamish Museum to access the pub. On my visit there were four beers on cask. Both I tried were kept well. They were all from the local Firebrick Brewery and it looks like the beers are brewed exclusively for this pub. There is an open fire and a piano that children were having a bash on, on my visit.

Spot on pub in the middle of Beamish - I had a pint of lager and it was really nice. My son had a whisky and Coke (he's 22 😆) and he said it was lovely too. An old style pub in the middle of an old town - perfect 👌 and they even sell pickled onions too mmmmm 😍

This fantastic Edwardian pub originally stood in Bishop Auckland. It's like you've stepped back to 1900. The serving staff are dressed in Edwardian costume. It is a proper pub serving cask conditioned hand-pulled real ale. It's a nice place to sit. Have a drink and take a break as it's very tiring walking round beamish.

A great addition to Beamish to have a pint in the pub. You really do get nostalgic about what kind of people would have drank there .

It really did feel like stepping back into the Edwardian era when I entered this little pub with its authentic period decor, stuffed birds and a cosy fire in the back room. Except, of course, I would not have been allowed in here in the early 1900's! The pub originally stood in Bishop Auckland, but was dismantled and rebuilt here in the 1980's. They serve traditional beers and cider here, and you can get hot drinks here too. Ordered half a pint of lager with a pickled egg and a packet of pork scratchings. Would have tried one of their pork pies, but they were only serving them at weekends. No matter! The lager was good, and both the costumed bar staff and the atmosphere were friendly and welcoming. Worth popping in here when you're in Beamish's 1900s town!
