This has always been a favourite of mine. Summer visits are very busy, so my go-to times are the winter months. Step one is a bracing walk around Bantham Ham then , step two, back to the cosy, welcoming interior of this very old pub. Log fire, glass tankards hanging above the bar, welcoming staff, and a lovely choice of local beers and beverages. The food menu varies but delivers quality, quantity and value. I chose the home cooked gammon with two eggs and crispy chips and peas. My partner chose the humus dip. They can get busy so to be sure, time your walk and book a table!!
The four of us visited The Sloop for lunch and a drink today. We had a super friendly welcome from Jamie and we chose our food, I had a basket meal of sausage and chips, the chips were amazing. The rest of the group had sandwiches which were also excellent. The Christmas decorations were stunning and put our local pub to shame. The food was very good value for money and the whole experience was a delight. Thoroughly recommend a visit.
Great pub in a great location in the village not far from Bantham beach. Nice selection of local drinks and the food was lovely. There's a great buzz to the place and the staff and locals make you feel very welcome. We'll be back!
A cozy pub with a fireplace and dining area. Orders must be placed at the bar but they are happy to open a tab for the table. The fish pie and mussels were really nice with generous portions. Booking is recommended in advance but they do accept walk-ins if they have space. The bar area is much smaller than the restaurant.
After a day on the beach, it was a welcoming place to relax. Good beer and food, my wife said the fish and chips were excellent and my fish pie was the best I've had. Highly recommended, but a captive audience means it's not the cheapest. Ignore reviews saying there's no outdoor space, it's past the toilets.
