    We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Chef de Partie or Sous Chef to join our team at The Ship Inn Wylam. Our menu is based around the very best of seasonal and local produce Northumberland has to offer.
    You get to oversee a section of the kitchen, be it pastry, butchery, fish, sauces, vegetables and so on. Also running the kitchen in the Head Chefs absence.
    Key responsibilities:
    Preparing, cooking and presenting dishes within your speciality
    Managing and training any commis working with you
    Helping the head chef to develop new dishes and menus
    Ensuring you and your team have high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safety
    Monitoring portion and waste control to maintain profit margins
    What hours will I work?
    5 days per week
    Sunday evenings off as the pub is closed.
    You'll probably have to work split shifts and at least 48 hours a week. evenings and weekends
    What skills do I need?
    Great cooking skills
    A cool head
    An ability to delegate appropriately
    Organisational flair
    A grasp of profit margins
    What qualifications do I need?
    Most chef de parties will have spent four years as a commis chef and have at least NVQ/SVQ Level 2 or equivalent under their toque. Other useful qualifications include:
    Who would it suit?
    Someone who's got bags of stamina and enjoys the fast pace of working in a kitchen. You also need to be able to stay calm and work as part of a team during a frenetic service. As a member of our team you will have a huge passion for food, flavour and good service. You will have the opportunity to learn and develop skills working along side Our Head Chef.

    Role and Responsibilities
    The role of the Kitchen Porter is to assist the kitchen team in the production of food and maintaining food hygiene to the highest standards.
    To be responsible for the wash up area for crockery, cutlery & kitchen equipment.
    To assist with basic food preparation (salad garnishes, desserts etc.) to the required standard, once suitable training has been given
    To clean the kitchen and kitchen equipment as directed and in accordance with the kitchen cleaning schedule.
