About us

Dating from the late 1500s a reputedly haunted pub wonderfully positioned next to the beach with both lounge and bar, coal fires, original timbers, retaining an 'olde worlde' feel to the interior of the last of the pubs in Old Saltburn The Seagull, Dolphin and Nimrod all long gone. Quality food served most times, pleasant outside seating with clear views of the pier opened in 1869, cliffs, rocks, beach and the sea. Becoming popular with film companies because of its location and traditional unspoilt looks.

Old fashioned style pub, plenty of seating in various rooms. Food was really good and the service was quick.

Had a lovely meal here....veggie option of pulled mushroom chilli was gorgeous. Good portion sizes. Not too big, not too small, really tasty and very reasonable. Also had a low alcohol lager which was very nice, so thanks for stocking that for us non-drinkers! Staff were brilliant. Friendly, relaxed, welcoming and helpful. Was a very quiet night in January, but place was warm and welcoming. Loving the decor too! Will most definitely be back again as we stop over in Cat Nab. Will 100% recommend. Well done guys x

Lunch in a beautiful setting😍 I believe this pub/restaurant has only recently become a Greene King addition. We found the menu had a good selection. The food we ordered arrived in a timely manner and was well presented and really nice. My friend's ordered the Steak and Ale Pie as it had been recommended to them and it didn't disappoint. They said it was great. Drinks were a very reasonable price too. We couldn't sit outside as the weather wasn't warm enough but managed to get a table with a bit of a sea view. Would recommend booking in advance if you would like a sea view from your table. We really enjoyed ourselves and will certainly be visiting again.

Great pub right by the beach, fantastic views. Food was superb. Good selection of drinks. Dog friendly, a massive bonus. Will be back.

Fantastic location, sitting with a drink overlooking the beach is amazing. The fish n chips however, were substandard - pre battered fish, frozen chips and no scraps. Service extremely slow at the outside chippy - the chef was hungover and made no secret of it. Maybe teething problems, I hope so.
