Usually called 'the Back Alex', used to be the separate tap for the old Alexandra Hotel. Situated at the back of Amber St. near the top promenade, the Alex has three interconnected rooms of which the centre is the bar. Great pub (a proper pub) brilliant atmosphere, lovely cozy fire and plenty of seating. Staff are fab, quick efficient service with a smile and time to chat to you which is rare these days. Spent a lovely afternoon in the company of gyrating Geoff, a flamboyant local who was the best company. We will definitely be back. Came for a few pints with my friends for a catch up from uni. Josh, Emma and Amy were really helpful and really brought a good fun positive vibe to the bar. Thoroughly enjoyed the night would recommend to anyone.
What a gem of a find amongst the Jewel Streets!! The warmest of welcomes from (special mentions) Emma and Anne, winner of the most dog friendly pub in Teeside and rightly deserved. We were made to feel so welcome by everyone in the pub. The decor is incredible, the drinks delicious, pub is cosy and warm, just like the welcome - we cannot wait to come back!!!
Hey THIS IS THE BEST PUB IN THE AREA (trust me). Me and my fellow Russian and Ukrainian friends went to Saltburn for a couple days - every night was spent in this pub. All the tiny details always grab your attention, and the staff was so charming😭 I forgot all their names but these were the people who made us feel welcomed. Others should learn - this pub is an example of how to retain guests. Best pool games and the tastiest beer🌶🌩
Great pub atmosphere, family friendly and plenty of seating space. Great place to watch sports. Very friendly staff members delivering a good quick drinks service. Good selection of drinks available and fairly priced. Started and ended the night their as enjoyed it that much.
