Scott’s Bar is located on Rose Street; Edinburgh’s main pedestrian shopping street and as such, is busy all year. Steeped in local history, Scott’s Bar is Rose Street’s oldest pub. Dating back to 1790 it is viewed by many as an Edinburgh institution.
Scott’s of Rose Street is named after a notorious landlady ‘Ma Scott’ who’s fierce reputation lives on to this day, making it extremely popular with tourists looking for an authentic Edinburgh atmosphere. This is added to by the décor and unusual position of the bar.
Whisky is very popular here, with the pub stocking a large selection of over 100 malts. Traditional Scottish food is served throughout the day and is popular with tourists, shoppers and local office workers alike; particularly for lunch trade. Sports are shown in the evenings and at weekends when Rose Street becomes one of the top destinations for drinkers and party-goers from all across the UK and further afield.

Lovely little spot in the middle of a busy tourist area! The food was good although the plates were cold making the whole dish cold, although the hollandaise is gorgeous! I would recommend trying the haggis if you haven’t had it before as it adds to the eggs Benedict. Ordered an iced mocha and it was not the best but it would not stop me from going back. Attentive staff also.
We tackled lunch at this hotspot, and boy, it was packed! Snagged an outdoor seat just in the nick of time. The food prep took a bit, probably because the joint was buzzing. The staff was on their toes, though, and the grub? Delightfully tasty! 🍽️
Great place on a Victoria Terrace with view over the Victoria street. It is on a first floor looking from the Victoria Street but it is on the ground floor on Royal Mail. Great place to visit. The food is amazing. I have visited this place several times and never have been disappointed. Great place for breakfast as well as lunch.
This is definitely my new go-to place for breakfast in Edinburgh! So good we went two days in a row. The veggie breakfast is amazing, the poached eggs on avo toast delicious, and it was my first time having a coconut latte but I'm so glad I did. My friend had the breakfast and the eggs benedict, and loved both. The atmosphere is lovely and the service is great, all the servers we interacted with were adorable! Can't wait to visit again next time I'm in Edinburgh!
Wow, what a lovely place to eat with some of the best haggis (they even have a vegetarian option) and a delectable sticky toffee pudding. The staff were absolutely pleasant and I thoroughly enjoyed dining here. I would highly recommend making a reservation beforehand, but they do allow walk-ins when it's not too busy!

This is a contradictory place indeed. Named after a supposedly historical character in the days before plumbing whose job it was to remove night soil from houses, Dirty Dick's is in fact an upmarket place
