Whether you prefer a pint and a good chat, a simple bar meal or more formal a la carte cuisine, The Red Cow guarantees a friendly welcome in beautiful surroundings and delicious, homemade dishes made from daily fresh, carefully sourced ingredients on seas
Far from the hubbub of the main roads, nestled amidst thatched cottages in the pretty village of Chrishall, just South of Cambridge between Saffron Walden and Royston, sits The Red Cow - a picture-perfect thatched pub, ideal for your escape to the country. The Red Cow is owned & managed by Toby Didier 'Serre & his partner Alexis Beeching.
Before making his home on The Red Cow range with Alexis in October 2010, award-winning chef Toby cut his culinary teeth for 5 years as Head Chef at the Goose Fat and Garlic in Sawbridgeworth and then moved on to become Head Chef at the Chequers, Matching Green, Essex where his reputation for immaculately presented, flavoursome dishes enabled the Chequers to cement its place as one of Essex’s most popular gastropubs during his 5 years tenure there.
As a lover of fresh produce and rural sporting activities, Toby relishes his role as The Red Cow’s convivial host and ensures our guests are made to feel as welcome as we can possibly make them.
