The Old Thatch - Ferndown Dorset FIVE STAR - Everything 2nd visit - Sat 13th Jan 2024 This award winning pub is lovely, not too over the top. As you walk in the door there is an immediate relaxing feel to the place....atmoshere great (log fire burning). We were shown to our table and served by Bradley, who gave us a warm welcome. He was knowledgeable and helpful. It was lunchtime so we opted for the Trio of Venison Sausages and an old favourite of mine Ham, Egg & Chips....neither of which were a disappointment (pictures included) ! Quite the opposite, the meals were Fab !! The team were superb, Bradley was extremely helpful and gave great service (thank you). Id also add that due to the expert service and quality of food we reveived last time out from REI, we returned. Bradley was sure to advise that service was added to the bill before we paid (he asked if we were happy and if we were happy to leave it on the bill) a very nice touch and I was happy to pay it !! Well done and thanks. Julian & Amanda

Been driving past this place for over 38+ years and have never entered!! What a great find.. obviously it's not the same pub as it was so many years ago but just a beautiful set up and a great place to eat as a family, individual, music supplied. Great outdoor area to eat and the inside is tastefully set with period decoration with a modern twist. Great service and attentive staff, the Roast was lovely, gravy nice and hot and tasty and meats cooked lovely the only down side from my perspective was the Yorkshire's were a little over done and hence dry and I like my tatties crispy!! however this was dutifully made up with extra pork crackerling💕🥰💯💕 Can't wait to come in an evening to outdoor lights on in a crispy Autum evening supping a beer and eating!! Thankyou👍

I had booked for a party of four for Sunday dinner. We were not disappointed, we were looked after on arrival by Rachel who served our table. The serves as very good and wasn't waiting long between courses. The food just melted in your mouth and so far the best Sunday roast out that we've had locally to us in Ferndown. We will definitely return again.

The Old Thatch in Stapehill, Wimborne, Dorset, a 17th century pub which sits directly opposite historic Stapehill Abbey has a very warm and welcoming feel to it, from the roaring fireplace to the friendly smiling staff. My wife and I decided to try this place out as we had heard great things, and we were not disappointed. We had not booked, but the staff found us a lovely cosy corner next the fire. The seating was very comfy and I could have stayed all afternoon. The staff was very attentive and a drinks order placed within a few minutes of sitting down. After a quick study of the menu the waitress brought over the drinks order and took our food order. The starter arrived in good time and it tasted fantastic, fresh and full of flavour, once finished the waitress wasted no time in clearing our plates and again the main course arrive shortly after hot and freshly cooked. The mains were perfect, the pie was great and the vegetables cooked to perfection, crisp and full of colour. The deserts followed and again food heaven. So what does this place score for us. Atmosphere, 5 stars Service, 5 stars Food quality, 5 stars Price, 5 Stars
