I haven't been in for a while, it's a lovely old building and a good pub but it was a bit cold but it's probably better when it's busier generating some heat. I'll be visiting again to try the new menu
Awesome barstaff, free pool, booze, can't really go wrong!
Been coming here for years on & off. Staff are always friendly, foods great.piping hot ,massive jacket spuds loads of fillings.Sunday dinner is a bargain.4 choices of meat, lovely roast spuds and veg.followed by free pool games for the kids. Great pub.
Great old historic building, but very cold inside today & so was the food, carrots & sprouts not cooked fully. Guy on the carvery wasn't very friendly to me & hubby, but was to our younger daughter. Staff didn't know what a white wine spritzer was, although she was lovely lass. We got our carvery meal at around 1.30 & it finishes at 2.30, so you would think the food would be cooked through enough. Sprouts I think were frozen as they were cold & hard in the middle, same with the carrots. Meat was delicious though & nice & quiet to be able to talk without music blasting in your ear. We will give it another try! Do think they need more staff on the bar though for Sunday carvery & not frozen produce! Washroom had no working hand air dryer & only one soap dispenser, for a place this size. It should have soap dispensers at every basin & all full! Also, you can't sit in the old chapel now for pool tables :(
The mission is an excellent pub in a repurposed former church. It has been converted very well, a quirky building on different levels. One area in the former Chapel complet with stained glass windows has three pool tables free to play. There is a wide range of beers including two hand pulled cask conditioned real ales from old mill brewery. Food is served during the day.
