Three ales, currently Harvey’s Sussex Best, Wandle and Truman's Runner, and a range of lagers reflect our free-of-tie status. A carefully selected list of authentic regional wines includes a number available by the glass and 500ml carafe.
Got the £80 rib roast for 3. I thought beef lacked marbling for the price (I would’ve cut it thinner given the toughness), and roast potatoes were a little crusty and salty. Otherwise, we found everything else exemplary. There is also a default £1 donation and service charge.
Really good roast, split the lamb & chicken between 6 people and was definitely enough food! Lamb was really tender and tasted great, the chicken was a bit dry, which was a shame. Potatoes were perfect, always key to a good roast. Good service and atmosphere, would recommend although make sure you order your Yorkshires separately!
A charming big pub with amazing food and an even better wine list (ask for better glassware if you understand the wine). Food was absolutely stunning, I was too amazed that I forgot to take the photos of other food. The pub was packed with people , but the staff managed it without any problems. Wouldn't be a good place for people who don't like a bit of noise. It can be a bit hard for people to understand when talking to someone. But other than that, a big recommendation.
This place was recommended by a friend who usually knows good pubs around london so we trusted him and he booked a table for us. When we got there around 6pm on Thursday evening it was relatively empty. We started by coffee liqueur and after couple of coffee liqueurs discovered each large glass is £25 so decided to control costs and switched to red wine. For started I had lobster on toast (if my memory serves me right) which was delicious (see photo I posted) followed by medium Onglet steak which was amazing and delicious. To wash all this down we ordered chocolate mousse with raspberry which was the only thing we didn’t enjoy that night. The chocolate mousse was drowning in raspberry and it was too acidic. We shared this feedback with our waiter who was absolutely lovely and very prompt. Overall food and service was amazing and we sat next to a wood burner which gave a very nice feeling for a cold winter night. Bill came to £73 per person including a bottle wine and starter , mains and dessert.
5 starts from me for the feast we had today! Very good value for money here. Had a whole chicken with many trimmings , two drinks , sparkling water, two starters and paid just £50/person with service included. And the most important is that food was actually very nice. Only downside for me is that they allow pets inside and some customers didn’t pay attention to their their dogs which were messing around with other guests and barking.
