The Albion is a Georgian gem left over from a time when Islington was fields and farmland and where the regulars would take afternoon walks out of the city to visit us.
With its wisteria covered façade and log fires, The Albion provides the perfect location to entertain, relax and forget the stresses of modern life, combining a central Islington location, just off Upper Street, with a picturesque walled garden situated within the Barnsbury conservation area.
Renowned for its delicious whole roast suckling pig and delightful rear bear garden, The Albion has become something of an Islington institution. Located on a small road in the heart of residential Barnsbury, this warm and appealing gastropub has been blessed with an impressively faithful Georgian restoration which showcases the place’s rickety floors, nostalgic wood-panelled walls and appealing mixture of varied chairs and tables.
The French windows in the restaurant area open onto over 450 square metres of wisteria-filled English country garden – one of the best beer gardens in the area – while the interior is quite something.
The Albion won The Observer Food Monthly award for “Best Sunday Lunch 2009” and is one of The Independent’s “Top 50 Sunday Lunch Venues” and The Guardian’s “Best Pubs in the UK”.

Decent roast but have had better. Was mostly disappointed in the gravy as it was very thin and runny and lacked flavour. Felt the meat and veggie quality was lacking a little. very cute inside though. Scotch eggs were very good.
A super place. The Albion appears to be a family and food centric pub with lots of happy faces all around. Lots of different rooms to tuck yourself away in, it's intimate, jolly or convivial. It's whatever you make it! The garden out the back is a real treat, mainly covered and with its own bar. A great place to visit.
My new favorite pub in London. We came for a quick drink, but ended up staying for Sunday Roast. The Yorkshire pudding was delicious - it was crisp on the outside but soft on the inside. The roasted veggies were actually roasted and not soggy from the meat! The star of the lunch was actually the Scotch egg. Perfectly jammy and runny on the inside, but crunchy on the outside. They also had a kind of mustard sauce that we kept eating along with our potatoes later in the meal.
Amazing pub with a quality Sunday roast. Their outdoor seating areas are almost unparalleled as they have a nice patio in the front and a massive space in the back. Highly recommend for their food, atmosphere and beer selection
Lovely pub with a lovely kitchen! The food we had on Sunday was great and good portions - the only downside was the lack of veggies that we seemed to have… This was due to the kitchen running out unfortunately. Aside from this, we can’t wait to come back and try our luck again.
