About us

The Kildare Lodge Hotel & Restaurant is located at the 'Gateway to Exmoor National Park' in the lovely coastal town of Minehead. Steeped in history, the Kildare Lodge is a grade 2* listed building, designed by Barry Parker under the influence of the famous Victorian architect Sir Edwin Lutyens and is one of only a few buildings of this style to be open to the public as a hotel.

The Kildare Lodge is owned and run by husband and wife team Harvey and Sarah Pyle and whilst a warm welcome, excellent home cooked food and comfortable, affordable accommodation awaits you, it is the Real Ale that sets the Kildare Lodge apart from its neighbours.

A well established member of CAMRA®, all beers are lovingly tended in person by Harvey who prides himself on offering a wide range of guest beers in addition to his carefully selected resident ales, ciders and lagers. The jewels in the Kildare crown however, are the Kildare Lodge Beer Festivals which are held twice a year.

A quality place for a relaxing pint. Lovely ale and atmosphere. Brilliant, helpful staff. No noisy jukebox to annoy social drinkers. Great proper pub.

We only visited the bar but that had a very good beer selection very reasonably priced. Slightly out of the way, but worth the extra 5 minutes.

Friendly local pub with an ever changing selection of well kept ales and a pleasant sheltered garden. With the fire lit, there is nowhere cosier to have a beer during the winter.

Such a lovely traditional old style bar. Lovely building with a feel of history about it. With a roaring fire and an equally warm welcome makes for a lovely place drink in

Barman very off hand, to the point of rudeness. Lager drinkers are not welcome. There was a choice of two on tap but one was off so I asked what bottles they had and was told this is a real ale pub and they have none. He took our order for food as well and treated us like a nuisance. On the plus side, it's an interesting building and the food was fine and the waitress was nice. We did not stay at the hotel.
