Great food, great staff. Just popped in (all 14 of us!) For an early dinner. The staff were so good with my six grand kids, patient and friendly.

Went for lunch after a walk, the burger was amazing, especially the bacon jam on it! Just what was needed and service also good and friendly. Would definitely return if in the area again.

Unfortunately over the years that we have been visiting this used to be iconic picturesque restaurant in the middle of a beautiful nowhere, it’s evident the food and service has chronically gone done hill. The look of a tag tag faded Ts dirty trainers rough looking lumber Jack guys and less than attentive female staff comes together as a deteriorating what once was a dream of a location with A+ food fit for a king & Queen. Ordering food and drinks during our meal with no courtesy checks made as to the quality of our dining experience and to offer more drinks indeed even sauces or other compliments. This has been all the more evident with a raise in prices, (£20 for a roast beef Sunday lunch diner) even for the lack of greens (cauliflower cheese, red cabbage and mashed sweed) served crispy dry, over cooked Yorkshire’s, dust to touch. Soup was cold served as a starter along side a meat corned beef style light bite. This was a comp meal as we had similar inadequate experience last year when after an hour our food hadn’t arrived and we had to leave. Chris was the manager then. Over the last 15 years I have been visiting and dining at this iconic hot spot I have never to date been so disappointed in service & food. From the words of the manager Ash and a high turnover of management seems to have added to the worsening vibe of the establishment. I wish my experience was better however I think it’s time to find a new dream in north Devon to frequent as a special home in my heart sadly broken.

After a morning walking the coastal path I cooled off with a dip in the sea and enjoyed watching a seal explore the cove from the beach. Then ready for food and a cool drink popped into the Hunters Inn. I went for the fish finger sandwich which was good, salad was fine, crisps could have been from a bag that had been open some time as they were soft. An orange juice and lemonade was perfect to cool me down. My wife had similar and it came to a rather pricey £28 including service. There is nowhere elsewhere nearby, this place is very remote, so they can charge what they like. A bit pricey but decent enough.

We did not stay here, just popped in for some lunch after a quick walk to Heddon Bay. We were a family of four, I had the chicken burger which was crispy on the outside and nice and juicy on the inside. No mean feat considering the size of the thing. Portions were hefty and the food was delicious. My key lime pie for dessert was a REAL highlight. The only reason this did not get 5 stars was because, for me, it was a tad expensive. My family of 4 (2 kids under 10) ate a main course, dessert and drinks for just over £90. There are cheaper meal options/light snacks available so you could probably get a decent meal for 4 for under £50. I know I'm being harsh and really, this place is no more expensive than many other pubs in Devon, I just long and hope that everywhere can be a bit cheaper. At least at the Hunters Inn you can enjoy delicious food in a truly beautiful valley landscape. Service was friendly and prompt so I would recommend going in here for lunch. You will not be disappointed.
