Popped in for Sunday lunch and had a really nice roast. It's a strange place because when you enter it's like you've stepped through a time portal and gone back 30 years. The decor is so old fashioned from the maroon patterned carpet to the overly intricate gold framed paintings hung everywhere. This is not a criticism by the way, it actually gives the place some character and during my visit I had a warm feeling of nostalgia. Its kind of like you're having dinner at your auntie Rita's back in the day. There is a good selection of draft beers and I throughly enjoyed a pint of guest. There are plenty of options on the menu with a wide variety of dishes / cuisines, all of which are very reasonably priced. There was a choice of meats for the Sunday roast, I went for beef and wasn't disappointed. I was really impressed with how much food (beef) was on the plate especially as it only cost £8.50! It's worth mentioning that the food here is not fancy or flashy, it's just good honest food that feels like it's been made by your mum. We both really enjoyed it and the service was excellent too. This is probably not a place I'd recommend for a romantic meal but if you're just after some good food in a relaxed atmosphere then I'd definitely recommend.
After travelling for a few days on the canal, decided to get back on land and go for a meal. A short 10 minutes walk along the busy road, and we were warmly welcomed by the lovely staff. The meal was perfect in every way... presentation, and delicious. No wonder they were busy, but at no time were kept waiting or made to rush. If we're in the area again, this is one place we'll try again.
Mr and Mrs Smith. Ventured to this beautifully kept pub for lunch. Wonderful thatched roof. Staff at bar and restaurant were genuinely lovely and caring and attentive . Felt so welcome myself and my partner. Food was to die for exceptional. After a lovely meal we sat in the very pleasant beer garden, very private. Cannot-recommend this wondrous hidden gem any higher than 11 out of 10. Do not miss the opportunity to experience it.
Great pub with friendly staff and some cask ales. Good value, good quality home cooked food. Very old building with low ceilings and small rooms except for a large dining room extension. Bed & breakfast seems very popular but I've not used it so can't comment.
The location of this pub is great and the setting that it is in is lovely. The building itself is quaint from the exterior and has old styling inside. The beer garden is a good size and is peaceful, there's also a bouncy castle there for the kids. There was a small selection of ales, along with lagers and other usual beverages that you'd expect to find at a pub. The menu is usual pub type food but there is quite a lot of choice. Unfortunately, the food wasn't quite the standard that I was expecting and in part, lacked a little flavour.
