Second time coming here for a meal. It's a lovely pub - very cosy and nice setting. The food is really nice and freshly made. The service unfortunately was pretty slow and not very attentive. We were waiting around 10 minutes just for our menus and it wasn't even that busy. Since my last visit they also charge you extra for any veg, mash etc. you'd like to add into your meal, instead of including it in the price of the meal. I would return for a drink and nibbles but I would be hesitant to return again for food. This is a shame because first time I visited I was really impressed.
What a disappointment….. We ate here yesterday evening in what was a comedy of errors. We were seated next to a very large party of loud, cackling women and young children running up and down the restaurant. We were smoked out from someone putting wood on the fire in the room next door! My clothes stink of smoke. The service was very poor, waiting ages to have our orders taken, wrong food brought, food not arriving together (one of the desserts arrived 10-15 minutes after the rest! And having to chase up!) We were even given a bill whilst we were still eating! The food was very average, I had Cheeseburger and fries… literally that was it! Could have come from McDonalds…. (Probably quicker!) Granted the manager took deserts of the bill, the premises were charming but sadly we won’t be recommending and visiting again.
We had a lovely stay at the Harcourt arms over the weekend, the food was delicious, very fresh and tasty! Cocktails were exceptional too, and a very comfortable, clean and relaxing room to go back too, can’t wait to visit again.
Exceptional food, with incredibly kind staff and very reasonable for the level of service and quality of food. We stayed the night as well which was very comfy and quiet, would highly recommend and we look forward to returning. Great bonus being dog friendly as well!
Five stars for food, lovely location and atmosphere, and our room was genuinely impressive. Service was generally good but slightly lacking in initiative, eg we had to ask for milk for our tea and coffee. Overall very happy would recommend and go back to stay and dine again.
