Dating back to the 12th century, The Sir John Barleycorn is a beautiful thatched tavern on the bank of the River Cadnam in the New Forest. Visit us for a warm welcome, some fine food and wine, or a pint of outstanding traditional cask ale.
Nice change from the normal. Great choice of both traditional English and India meals.
Celebrated a family Birthday, 12 people, enjoyed a mix of the standard menu and the Indian menu. Indian dishes were absolutely superb. The standard menu dishes were also well received, although I'd personally stick with the Indian dishes next time we visit. It.was very busy when we went as there was another large gathering, so the mains took a while to come out, but the waiters kept us informed. After the meal the chef came out to apologise for the delay and asked what we thought of our meals, very friendly and attentive service by all staff throughout the evening. Highly recommended and will definitely be returning soon!
Got to this pub at 9.20pm after a long journey. Wanted a bite to eat but at this time we thought crisps were going to be our only option…. The chef reopened the kitchen and we had some delicious Indian delights! Friendly staff too, welcomed the dogs … I will definitely be returning
Fantastic food and service. We stopped here to meet family we hadn't seen in a while. We never felt rushed and were given time to decide what we wanted. The chef came out to see us to check that we were happy with our meal. The food was amazing!!
This is a lovely thatched pub. Plenty of parking. This was our second visit with the new owners. Food has been great on both occasions, we’ve had the Indian food which smells divine when you enter, as well as the usual pub classics. The staff are welcoming & attentive & it was great to meet the chef. Could tone down the lighting for a more candle or low lit ambience. Will be back soon & recommending to others!
