Popped in for lunch on way to watch Newport County v Eastleigh FC in the FA cup game. We were met with an exceptionally friendly welcome. All food was outstanding. Definitely memorable. Service and food were epic..
Lovely traditional pub with dining options, log fire, local Ales and ciders. Not an extensive menu but great food, excellent service, fantastic atmosphere Recommend the scotch egg, mushrooms and slow cooked beef.
We were to believe it was a hog roast that was being cooked, but went outside to get our order, it was a small pork loin that had been cooked with stuffing in middle, we paid £8 for mainly stuffing in a roll and a bit of pork, extremely disappointed, was looking forward to this. All 3 of us not happy, chips with gravy £5, gravy was runny not very tasty. We had curry sauce on ours, not many chips in tray, curry sauce ok.
The Bell Inn in Caerleon is an absolutely fabulous place a wonderful pub I have from my childhood memories 50 years ago. My whole family, including my grandad used to hang out here and have a couple of beers most days a week . Obviously the pub has changed quite a lot over the last years. It is an early 17th century coaching in and actually very close to the Roman burial ground here in Caerleon. It’s a wonderful atmosphere in the pub beautiful gardens outside lovely sitting inside all nestled in a little village just outside of the main town of Caerleon.
Just had an absolutely beautifully cooked lamb and an amazing side of chunky fries, my other half had the Cajun chicken which was equally tasty. It was topped off with a lovely desert of a chocolate brownie etc . All in all we thoroughly recommend dining here.
