They increased the price in the menu deal and said its a new menu but the dishes are exactly the same. I ordered the roast and it was the worst I have ever had. Cheap quick items used. I would not eat there again.
Wonderful food and the staff are so lovely. I absolutely love coming here and my parents enjoy it also when they visit they infact request it! Beautiful freshly made food as always! Thankyou!
Lovely welcoming pub. Menu features something for everyone. We opted for weekday offer of two lunches for £15.00 and both chose the roast beef. Beautifully tender beef, huge Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and parsnips together with brocolli, peas and sprouts - fabulous!
Lovely meal. A few things were out of stock but the waitress (who was friendly, cheerful and efficient) told us about them before we'd decided we wanted them so that was fine. Just bear in mind that the website is owned by the old owners so the web contact doesn't work. Also this is (as far as I'm aware) just a restaurant not a hotel.
This place is like a wasted opportunity to be something great. Fairly recently it had a great outdoor play area built for kids which is already showing signs of neglect - with two of the only swings and one of the slides being removed/broken. The food is okay but lacking creativity at best and so is probably overpriced outside of the weekday saver deal of 2 meals for £15 at the moment. Its virtually all self service here for cutlery, napkins, sauces and also ordering food at the bar. This place is trying to be welcoming and family friendly but still feels like a classic pub catering more for their local regulars who drink quietly in it's dark corners and help keep the lights on. In such a prime location of Caerleon by the river, the Ship would benefit from taking itself more seriously .
