Until the early 18th century, this was officially called The St George Inn, after the patron saint of England. It seems that the ‘saint’ part of the name was dropped after King George acceded to the throne in 1714. During the 1970s, the old name of the inn was recalled by the hanging sign on the front of the building, depicting Saint George and the dragon.
Me and my wife had the disabled room was fantastic really great to have a shower so easily and the bed was so big got lost in it,felt great to have lift right near our room and lady doing our room was so nice and helpful will definitely be back.
A normal weatherspoons. Good food and drink for the price and a lovely outside area out the back. I don't know what the rooms are like as I have only drank and eaten here.
First time I went into a Weatherspoons and it was a lot nicer inside than expected. Spacious but cosy, the service and choice of drinks are great. We didn't eat or stay here therefore can say nothing about the hotel or the food but what we saw brought to other tables looked good enough. Typical pub food I would say but looked decent considering how cheap it is in comparison to other pubs. Definitely value for money. The clientele is very young though, therefore wouldn't be my choice of pub, but we met up with friends who stayed in the hotel and had a pleasant evening. Our friends said that their stay was good and they would recommend the hotel.
Came for lunch to catch up with a friend. Food was really nice, served beautifully, and presentation of food was very good, nice to see young guys and girls serving customers with a smile and care. Thanks to the Chefs for making nice food.
Visited with my husband and grandaughter. We have been here many times. Only had hot drinks and a soft drink for the little girl. Log fire burning, nice friendly atmosphere . Always worth a visit. Beautiful , very grand ladies toilets. Formally a ball room. Excellent value for money, as are all Wethersoons. Well done.
