Nestling in the very heart of the beautiful South Hams, The Fisherman's Rest enjoys a tranquil streamside location at the head of the River Avon, in the ancient South Devon village of Aveton Gifford near Kingsbridge.

The pub is also a well frequented by the famously friendly residents of Aveton Gifford, and other neighbouring villages including Bigbury and Churchstow, also the local towns of Kingsbridge and Modbury.
The restaurant at The Fisherman's Rest has grown an enviable reputation for 'good honest food’ at reasonable prices, and offers a menu with a wide selection to cater for all tastes, and an additional gluten free menu is also now available.
At the bar our attentive staff are always on hand to serve our fabulous reals ales and a selection of wines, and with basket meals available at the bar from just £5, it makes The Fisherman's Rest an ideal stop off point for holiday makers en route to nearby Salcombe or Bantham.

One of the few honestly local and privately owned pubs left in the world. The recent rejig and refit has made a huge difference, and the beer garden is a great spot.
Very warm welcome and lovely calm atmosphere with good background music. Adorable dog as well! Great fish and chips, hubby enjoyed his vege/vegan dish, son enjoyed his cheese and mushroom omelette. Not over priced. All good especially relieved when it seemed to be the only place open locally.
Good pub grub! We took a group of cyclists for lunch -all ordered something different and they catered well. We were even able to eat outside it was such a lovely day
Nice meal for a reasonable price. Lady who took order very friendly and willing to get us what we wanted. Sadly no smile from lady who delivered the food.
Absolutely brilliant on all accounts. Friendly and effective staff, brilliant food. The menu is small but clearly designed to cater to a variety of tastes. It was great watching the tide come in and completely flood the garden 🤪 make sure you listen to the staff if they tell you to move or you'll get wet 🤣
