Was a great value for money carvery and was absolutely wonderful food but now not good on either count! Wouldn’t recommend this place on any level. Meat cut so thin you can see through it. Price increases, quality dropped off and quantity of food decreased. Won’t be back. So sad.
4th visit but unfortunately the 2nd we found them with no chef so not serving food and the 3rd it was closed altogether . 4th visit we had a problem as many of the food items were unavailable due to a late delivery? Home made soup on this occasion wasn't nice so didn't eat it and it came with slices of bread rather than a bread roll. My husband who had the burger again because the first time he had it , it was really good but felt let down this time because he was served chunky chips instead of fries. Apparently they had no fries and instead of asking if he wanted something else they went ahead and brought the chunky chips that he hates. Not a great experience this time but we know they're capable of better as our first visit the food was fab.
What a shame ! We have been going here for quite a few years since it reopened, the food and staff were outstanding. Unfortunately it has been under new management a few times and I’m sorry to say the food has suffered for it . Even the carvery which it is well known for has increased in cost quite a bit , understandably with the recent cost of living, but the food hasn’t increased in quality , less meat portions and undercooked veggies, or on one occasion of having a different meal totally overcooked. I really hope it’s short lived and they get back to the top dog we look forward to visiting.
Best carvery around. Me and my partner came in here for the first time at some point last week and were greeted by such a welcoming cozy environment, such a chilled place to come. We were greeted by a lovely woman who asked us what we’d like and if we wanted any drinks, we both decided to get a large carvery each which included three meats each. My partner got larger portions of 2 meats while I got a mixture of all three and didn’t get a Yorkshire pudding. The girl carving meats was really nice and friendly too, gave us a good portion that we were both happy with. Largest choice of potatoes and veg and other carvery stuff that I’ve seen before here, I filled my plate up, choices included mash, roasties, dauphinois, parsnips, stuffing and lots more as well as 2 different choices of gravy and a few different sauces. I asked if it would be okay to go up for seconds of potatoes etc if I needed to and got told this was fine although I was so full after my first plate I didn’t need to! Even got asked how our meal was which was super thoughtful. Such amazing customer service and amazing food here, I’ve never had better roast potatoes than I have here! The best carvery by far will definitely be coming back! Thank you for making our experience such a beautiful one! The price is excellent also for what you get, amazing value for money!
Excellent carvery, the food is cooked perfectly every time with lots of choice. Has become a new favorite. The staff are always friendly and you can tell they also get on with each other and customers so the pub has a happy welcoming atmosphere. There is a good sized car park too.
