Launched in 2013, The Dockyard has been at the centre of life and the soul of Media City ever since. To say the team here are passionate about beer and other booze would be a huge understatement, and their knowledge, and willingness to help you find the perfect tipple, is immediate from the off. Whether it’s a particular style of hop-based drink or a blend of grapes you’re looking for, chances are they have a wealth of information to pass on about the drink, even if it’s one of the few they’re not serving behind the bar itself.
In addition to the generous drinks lists, you’ll also find a fully operational kitchen, and food here tends to work on a seasonal basis. Although firm favourites like the excellent burger range, salads and vegan wraps are year-round staples for obvious reasons. Sunday roasts are another permanent fixture, while specials change by the day. Orders aside, The Dockyard is a great destination for brain boxes, with an excellent pub quiz known for fun and competitiveness every other Wednesday. On other evenings, you’re just as likely to find open mic events, live bands and acoustic artists. Oh, and did we mention discounts for students and others working in hospitality?
The word ‘heritage’ isn’t often used in connection with MediaCityUK, the ultra-modern broadcasting and digital district that provides the BBC with a northern headquarters, offers a home to Coronation Street, and space for a multitude of independent production studios. That is until you come to The Dockyard Media City. Opening for business just one year after BBC staff in Manchester and London were relocated to the neighbourhood, this rustic ale house — designed to offer a homely counterpoint to the area’s dominant architecture — has quite literally watched its surrounds take form and blossom, and remains a local institution.

This is a great place to come in the day or evening for a drink and some food. There is always a good selection of beers at the bar and some really great food available. It does get busy in the evenings however so come early if you’re after a meal. The decor is pretty cool, wooden beams and girders to reflect a dockyard feel. There are booths with rustic tables and sofas as well as low tables and benches outside which are great in the summer. If you get a window seat you’ll have a nice view of the Blue Peter garden, Imperial War Museum and the plaza outside the BBC. If you’re in Media City this a great place to visit. Thanks for reading
Nice pub with cool atmosphere. Food was average, I don’t recommend fish and chips as it tasted oily but the other dishes were ok. There was no service at the table and it was inconvenient to always go to bar to order.
Great location, cool design and atmosphere, food was good, lots of drinks to choose, recommended
Superb range of beers and great cozy atmosphere. The specialist small batch beers are superb and plenty of choice. If you're unsure of one you can have a taste first. Definitely worth a visit.
Had a day off from work so had a trip over to media city fancied something to eat & drink and their it was the place that I was going to have my lunch in . The Dockyard . As an Industrial feel to it with an old school look when it comes to the the chairs / wooden tools .this is a great place very spacious inside but also outside in them summer months just people watching or if your lucky the odd celebrity walking by the prices are not bad remember you are in media city so expect to pay about 5 pound for a drink. I did have a bite to eat and opted for the Dockyard Club bit like a ( BLT ) you get it with fries .But have to say I was disappointed . I paid 11 pound for my lunch but I found it had very little taste and the biggest disappointment was the cheap bread they used ( Try Warburtos ). Bit of a let down when the meal was nothing special needs work . but over all the staff are friendly and welcoming and it's in a great location with a good choice of drinks. will I go back absolutely for drinks not for the food sadly. but I had a great Afternoon its a wonderful place to stop At . Thanks to the staff for being so welcoming.
