The Digger’s Rest, in the middle of the picturesque south-east Devon village of Woodbury Salterton, is a traditional thatched village pub with a beautiful beer garden and a history stretching back 500 years to the inn’s days as a cider house.
This historical West Country character is still evident today in the inn’s massive walls, wooden beams and real log fire, giving the place its cosy, welcoming feel.
We had a lovely Sunday roast in the Diggers last Sunday. Only a 10 minute walk from Brown's farm campsite. We had a lovely welcome from the Landlady and really enjoyed the food. We'll definitely return to the Diggers. Mike and Sheila
Went for a Sunday roast. 3 options - Beef, Turkey & Gammon. I had the turkey & my wife the beef. We were both impressed with the quality & quantity. Great chocolate fudge cake, with a fantastic flavour ice cream. Good real ale selection, really friendly staff, lovely atmosphere. Definitely recommend.
Had the BEST, crispiest batter on my battered fish, served with chunky chips and peas. Others had hunters chicken or scampi and chips. Very friendly owners. Lovely old thatched pub, very warm on arrival at noon. (Doors opened at the strike of 12.) Well worth the drive down the country lanes. Large carpark round the back . Dog friendly. Soundtrack was diverse!
We had a lovely lunch sitting outside in the sunshine. My son and I had tasty burgers and my sister in law a chicken combo. Followed by naughty desserts of chocolate fudge cake and sticky toffee pudding. Delicious! Very friendly pub. We look forward to trying your roasts soon.
Lovely food and really friendly staff. We used to come here frequently 45 years ago and it is just as I remembered. Redecorated a few times obviously.

FOOD & DRINKS
We’re really proud of our food – a traditional pub menu, locally sourced where we can, and all freshly prepared. The menu is changed seasonally, but you’re also sure to find something to tempt you on the ever-changing specials board.
We offer a great range of real ales, lagers, and selection of quality wines. We like to keep things fresh with a full range of spirits, seasonal drinks, and some lovely non-alcoholic options – something for everyone.
