About us

Northumbria is one of the UK's best kept open secrets with miles of fine spacious uncrowded beaches, unspoilt countryside, dozens of quiet villages set against the backdrop of the Cheviot Hills, some of the most beautiful scenery found anywhere. The accommodation, including all public rooms, is on one level. The Restaurant and charming conservatory lead into the secluded gardens and patio. Carefully prepared food, friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere make a meal into a special occasion.

The Cottage Inn Craster is an ideal venue for a small intimate wedding reception or other special occasion.

We are a "dog-friendly" establishment. Your canine friends are welcome to join you in the bar and conservatory. 7 of our letting rooms are also dog-friendly.

We pride ourselves on our cask conditioned ales and we always have a good selection from our local micro-breweries such as Hadrian & Border Brewery, we are recommended in the good beer guide.

Free WiFi is available in the public areas.

We had a great stay. Rooms could do with a bit of an upgrade, especially the bathrooms. Apart from that, everything was fabulous. Rooms are big, bed is huge and very comfortable. Staff are warm and welcoming. Food choices and prices were excellent. Very dog friendly, but also dog free restaurant areas if you want to be away from them. The included breakfast was very good, and plenty of it. Great location for visiting the sights. Would love to come back.

Cottage Inn in Alnwick exceeded expectations. The warm atmosphere, accommodating staff, and pet-friendly approach created a perfect escape. The delightful surprise was the exquisite food – a culinary experience that elevated our stay. A top-notch choice for a cozy retreat with your canine companion and a treat for your taste buds. We found this little pub only a few minutes from our campsite. It’s deceptive as it looks small from the road side but it is quite large inside. It does have accommodation and a large parking area at the back. Also there is a very large well kept garden at the rear. We did not have food but the food that was being served looked very good. Good local cask ales & local gins on offer. The cask was very well kept. We visited several times as the pub was lovely to visit. Would recommend.

Only visited for a couple of takeaway pizzas. These were freshly cooked very good although my Meat Feast had rather more chicken than expected and no pepperoni! £20 for two pizzas was not bad value. If you want to eat in booking would be recommended, based on the number of tables reserved. Rest of the menu looked good value.

Just had a meal here. Fantastic home cooked food, good portions at good prices. Staff really nice not really much else to say but would definitely recommend if you like pub food well presented.
