Bed was not comfy at all, lumpy and could feel spring protruding. Most have been very old. Hotel is not very well located, said it was 3 miles from Bath and it might be if you have an helicopter but by car it is a good 6 miles with a lot of very narrow country lanes.
This was our first visit to a lovely hotel which is full of character in a very scenic location. The staff were extremely friendly, polite and helpful, the room we had was large and well equipped, and we loved the food and drink options in the bar and restaurants. There was plenty of on-site parking which was also free. We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and we are planning to stay here again in future
The area and the hotel building are visually stunning. The service we received was great and couldn't be faulted. Breakfast is served buffet style and the options were plentiful. The lounge and bar areas were tastefully decorated respecting the age of the building however the rooms could do with modernising. Finally it is worth noting that due to it's location there is the need to travel to find restaurants or shops as there are none nearby.
It's a beautiful setting and a grand hotel on the outside but the inside is very tired. The hairdryer didn't work and the shower was extremely weak. Basic rooms but the decor and facilities are very old. But clean. Overall just ok. Also had the unfortunate experience of a fire alarm and full hotel evacuation at 6am on a Sunday morning due to hotel kitchen, appreciate these things happen but the nature of the rooms you could here everyone was up and couldn't get back to sleep after.
The place is dated and needs freshening up but it’s not too bad of a place to stay. The staff were nice for the most part and the food was okay but you don’t get bang for your buck. Drinks are fairly priced and the bar area is quite good. The room was alright, pretty standard. Although the place is old there were no issues with noise or drafts coming into the room. The shower was a bit hard to get a consistent temperature due to the style of mixer tap. The area that the hotel is in is amazing, nice views however, not at the fault of the hotel, there isn’t anything nearby in terms of shops and restaurants meaning you have to eat at the hotel. Driving around the area is alright if you’re comfortable with tight roads. Overall I’d say this place is okay if you’re just needing to stay somewhere for a couple nights. I’d stay again if I was working in the area.
