A warm and friendly Victorian inn, situated on the outskirts of Eggleston village on the moors road from Barnard Castle to Stanhope, with spectacular views across Teesdale. There is a welcoming main bar with separate public bar where dogs are welcome, and a large function room. Up to two guest ales are on handpump, often from local micros. Occasional beer festivals are hosted. With good home-cooked food and en-suite B&B accommodation, this is a good stopping off point for those travelling to and from Scotland.
Great local place for something to eat, drink, rent a function room or stay in the hotel. Good for visiting family and friends.

THE BEST SUNDAY LUNCH EVER! , lovely clean pub with great friendly staff, great views, chocolate brownie for dessert was amazing too. Made all the better by knowing it's from their own farm, I love to support businesses like this!
We stopped here after it was recommended by the accommodation where we are staying and it was lovely had a couple of drinks then Sunday lunch it was a great ending to a great day
Really nice pub. Excellent Sunday roast, decent beers, friendly staff and great view out the window. Add an attached farm shop and glamping pods and they have something special. Please support, we need to keep pubs like this!
