Popped in with friends after a 6 mile cross country walk across the marshes, all thirsty and starving and the food and service was great, very large portions of well cooked food

My partner and I have been visiting brightlingsea for the past 5 years and always look forward to lunch in the Yachtsman's arms. But I have got to say after today we've decided to give it a miss. It was absolutely freezing cold. They put us in the far corner of the restaurant but after a short while of hugging myself I said to my partner I'm so cold, is it me. He said no, and asked for us to be moved nearer the fire. It helped slightly but the owner was constantly coming over to stoke the fire. So I feel the the table should be moved slightly. The menu has not changed for years. I had the burger, which contained lettuce and a tomato no sauce onion pickle so was quite bland really. The bill was surprising so high for what we had. Although, we got ourselves a brandy each to warm ourselves! So this obviously hiked the price. Such a shame, it used to be such a lovely place to go. Unfortunately, we will not be going back 😟

We have visited this pub on many occasions, they used to have so much more on menu, but seems its not the same as we experienced before, the girls are excellent servers, the food has shrunk in portions, and the price has risen. We had lunch and it cost 63 pounds...don't get me wrong it's still OK pub but we have noticed the change, think we will give it a wide birth for a while..

Had a lovely meal here after taking a the dog for a walk round the nature reserve. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and show us where we could sit with the dog, food was very reasonably price and the quality was fantastic real home cooked food! There were some good vegetarian options which my wife enjoyed and I really enjoyed the butternut squash and rosemary soup you could really taste the rosemary in it.

Food outstanding but Service very very slow over 2.45 mins for main meal and pudding. Waitress gave us dessert menu and then just left. Must have been end of her shift. 35 mins later had to try and attract another's attention. Food Was worth the wait but won't be rushing back.
