About us

The Square is the heart of the town and many of the tourist attractions of Caernarfon are only a stone’s throw away. After enjoying a leisurely lunch in our restaurant you can explore the walls of the old town and the slate quay. Behind the restaurant is the station for the Welsh Highland Railway which takes you on a journey through the National Park. The town also has numerous small shops which are within easy walking distance from the restaurant. Cyclist can benefit from the designated cycling route which stretches along the coast in one direction or into Snowdonia in the other.

Fishermen and golfers are also catered for in Caernarfon with the harbour a stones throw away, and the local 18 hole golf course a 5 minute drive away.

The Castell's restaurant is the only establishment locally to be recognised in the good food guide, a feat they have accomplished for three years running. Our Executive Chef Martyn Rae is amongst the finest in North wales, and sources all his foods locally.

Rooms at Y Castell are large and well appointed, and all have large flat screen TV's, and free Wifi, and have either views over the Town Square, Castle or the Harbour. There is limited free parking.

The Castell is a thriving Bar and Restaurant in a central location, and as such can be noisy on Friday and Saturday nights.
