About us

In early September 2019, The Who’d A Thought It started another chapter in its long history, being taken on by Alex and his brother Vard, along with their late father, Ian.

The Who'd A is at heart a traditional village pub, dating back to the eighteenth century.

The visitor will not take long to determine the theme of the decor, which is firmly rooted in meat and its journey from hoof to table.

The menus change regularly to provide variety to the frequent diner and to take advantage of seasonal ingredients.

A children's menu contains cut down versions of the same, but with some time-honoured children's favourites added.

Indulge in our drinks menu with a selection of fine wines, splendid ales, premium stout, and cider – all meticulously kept to Cask Marque's highest standards.

Alex has been a Chef for more than a decade, mostly in this area, so knows where to get the best local food and how to prepare it and this is at the heart of his menus. The approach is to provide the sort of fare that customers expect at a pub, at a reasonable price, as well as to offer the slightly more adventurous diner something from the specials board which may tempt the palate.

Alex's brother, Vard, mans Front of House. He also has run pubs over several years, and being a petrolhead will get very excited if he discovers someone keen to talk motorbikes or Land Rovers.

Ian unfortunately passed in late July 2023, but he will live on in the hearts of the community for the impact he made with his hugely entertaining character and ability to make time for absolutely anyone he met.

We look forward to welcoming you to The Who’d A!.

Great hospitality and delicious food - very dog friendly. Small car park but option to park on the quiet road outside. Definitely would recommend the beef on the Sunday roast!

Great pub with lovely staff who make you feel welcome before sending you home with a happy belly full of fantastic food. Little fireplace brings the atmosphere to 5 stars!! Well worth a 1min drive off the A4.

Just had lunch here on a quiet Saturday afternoon. We were made to feel very welcome right from when we walked in. The food really nice and was great value for money (Apparently the bread is made on the premises for the sandwiches). We will definitely be back to try the evening menu. Highly recommended. I can now say we've been back and the evening menu was just as nice and again really good value. Well worth a visit

We stop here without booking on sunny Sunday. The place was full and fully booked but we agreed to wait for a table (if is full there is a reason!). We've got the table in about 20 minutes. Ordered Sunday roast, one vegan and one beef. The vegan one unfortunately was sold out so they offered a substitution of vegan sausages. A bit disappointed but without booking can expect to find everything. However the vegetables were amazing as the gravy. My partner loved the roast beef. The roasted parsnips were to die for. Definitely coming back (with booking) to try the vegan roast! The service was excellent even though they were short staff. Great places for a Sunday roast and if is sunny you can eat in the lovely garden.
