Samuel Smith’s is a small, independent UK brewery. Though we are a small brewery, our pubs are widely scattered – we operate from Edinburgh to Cardiff and Carlisle to London. Most are small pubs situated in the north of England serving the local community and offering value for money.
Our pubs are havens from the digital world – there are no TVs or background music. The use of mobile phones, laptops and other tech is not allowed in our pubs. Friendly pub conversation is encouraged (no swearing!) together with the responsible enjoyment of our beers.
As a proudly independent firm, we do not stock any products made by big corporations. Our pubs only stock Samuel Smith’s products. We brew all our own beer and make all our own cider.
Our wines are sourced direct from their designated countries of origin.
Our spirits are sourced from first-class independent suppliers and adorn our back-bars with their beautiful labels sold under the Walker & Scott Wine Merchant’s name.
Our pubs still have hand-painted pub signs, skilfully produced by some very talented local artists.
We sell a range of bar snacks including crisps from an independent family farm and made from Yorkshire-grown potatoes.

Friendly Pub, very quite after 9:30. Really nice to see it as Digital Detox (ie. No phones/laptops etc). Gets everybody chatting. Food is top notch.
Good food, nice locals however not allowed to use your mobile phone inside the pub? Nice old fashioned public house perfect fit if you're traveling alone like I was. WILL BE RETURNING SOON
Recently visited this pub a few times. The lady behind the bar was lovely. Today I brought friends up for a meal. Everything was good except one dessert. Didn't smell or taste good. We went to the bar to tell them and the landlord came over who was extremely rude then all of a sudden the woman from the kitchen stormed in instantly on the defence. Told us she had sold 6today so how can It be bad. Offered us another one. That's it no refund. Shocking customer service and we Recently found this little pub as we have Just moved near by. Shocked, landlord said we need to email the brewery. We already know the catering side is the landlords problem nothing to do with the brewery this happened infront of the children won't be going again
Visited on a Wednesday the only day it doesn't provide food. Sam Smith's beers which were great. It was a very quiet lunchtime but a welcome couple of beers after a long walk around the reservoirs above the pub.
A Sam Smith pub. Friendly welcome, nice fireplace and open area near the bar. A well enjoyed pint. I would definitely consider trying the a meal out next time I visit as it seemed like a clean and tidy place.
