Sadly this pub has closed. This pub is temporarily closed. Marston's lease expired. Repairs badly needed. Owners wish to keep as a pub so hopefully will reopen. Marstons 20 year lease ended on September 18th 2023. Pub closed but owners wish to keep as pub following essential repairs. ACV applied for. Excellent really old black and white timbered pub built in 1614. Small two roomed pub. New landlady /landlord. Landlord has confirmed - May 2023 "I can confirm we do have a food menu on now. We offer a full lunch menu and we have speciality nights throughout the week. Most importantly, of course, we have our amazing Sunday Lunch". I will try the menu and update the review when I can.
So sad to watch this pub decline. It’s gone from being a gorgeous little piece of history to visit, with a buzzy atmosphere to just slightly depressing all round. Sunday lunch is poor quality, frozen food that you wait almost an hour for. Gimmicky live music that takes the staff by surprise as much as the customers. Service that is now lethargic and uninterested in the customer and the drinks on offer, alike. Overall it’s just a bit depressing. Breaks your heart a little bit tbh.
You won't find many pubs like this anymore. Good, honest grub, good range of drinks and food service. They had an amazing range of pies when we went, just in case you're a fellow lover. The big guy behind the bar was a legend.
Fantastic little pub. Tuesday pie nights and Wednesday Currys are great! The travelling food trailers they have there are also so nice! Great selection of beers, ciders, wines, ales.. everything! Highly recommended!!
Not been for a while, arrived about 1pm a number of older folks eating inside, we sat in the beer garden. I ordered food and didn't have to wait long. Good meal and good pub.
