About us

A large inglenook fireplace crackles gently through winter evenings, giving an instant welcome and the low beams and candlelit dining rooms lend a real warmth to this friendly and relaxed ‘local’ on Henfield’s attractive High Street and only a few miles from the stunning South Downs. On sunnier days you can enjoy eating and drinking al fresco in the pretty walled garden.

Landlord Gyles Culver, his wife Mo and son and daughter Will and Katy welcome you to this ancient haven of award winning ales, fine wines and carefully sourced seasonal dishes from around the world making the White Hart the perfect location for eating out in West Sussex.

In the colder winter months, our huge inglenook fireplace will warm you whilst you sip on a pint of Badger’s finest ale. We welcome you to sit at one of our old pine tables and watch the flames whilst the rain falls outside. We also have big comfortable arm chairs and lovely leather Chesterfield dotted around the Inn, presenting you with the perfect opportunity to enjoy an afternoon cream tea, or even try one of our homemade scotch eggs.

We went to a function there the other night, they were so friendly and so accommodating. The food was amazing and great portion sizes we couldn't eat it all, but had goodie bags as there was so much food. The food was extremely tasty and nicely cooked with lovely flavours. I would highly recommend this pub and the new landlady Heidi. Thank you Heidi.

Had the most amazing experience at the white hart Today! Found it so hard to choose after looking at the menu as everything looked so good The chef gave us a free sample of the vegan walnut chilli which was top notch 🌶 The best vegan option we’ve ever tasted We had the Stilton and ham Kiev And the burger and it was sooooo good!!

Popped in for a quick drink as I heard it was under new management! Very glad I did. Surprised to see lots of people I know now going back there. Great vibe, superb atmosphere. Was asked to come back for band night on Saturday, so I did with a few of my friends......what a night. It was absolutely on fire with so many people singing and dancing, like the good old pub days. New Manager, Heidi, obviously has a plan and so far is nailing it. Back there tomorrow for lunch with the family.

Food was good, but ordering at the bar then had to reorder everything after no stock available 10 mins later. Lady who served us said she couldn't sell us a pint of lemonade so we ordered 2 glasses instead... Food actually very nice, really enjoyed everything out the kitchen. Really didn't like the idea of ordering at the bar if we're spending £50 per head...

Beautiful old pub in Henley. All 3 of us had a roast of some description. Very tasty.... Huge portions of yumminess so consider sharing 😉 we had ordered a side of cauliflower&cheese before we realised the size of the portions. Highly recommended. The serving staff were so lovely, friendly and helpful without being in your face. I can imagine the White Hart as a stunning wedding venue. Lovely atmosphere. I'd go there again for sure.
