About us

The historic inn is situated at the foot of Scout Scar, with its stunning panoramic views and on the edge of the damson-growing Lyth Valley. Parts of the Wheatsheaf date back to 1762 and it originally was three cottages with a shoeing room for horses. The premises then became an alehouse and it was first licensed in the early 1800s.

All tastes are catered for at the Wheatsheaf with old favourites, handmade pizzas and Cumbrian delicacies, including, of course, Cumberland sausage! Food is prepared using the freshest, locally-sourced ingredients and served in plentiful portions, with many traditional dishes and seasonal specials. Special dietary requirements are available upon request. You'll enjoy a very warm welcome, and a hearty plateful!

With a breathtaking view across the beautiful Lyth Valley, the Lumley Fee Bunkhouse offers lake district accommodation with a unique window over the Lakeland hills and fells. Perfect for a group of friends or family looking for a happy hangout. Equally perfect for couples to experience the peace and tranquility of this stunning landscape. Whether walking, climbing, cycling or just relaxing, Lumley Fee will be an individually different experience. The creative and charming interior of this former school house will welcome you with open arms.
