The Brudenell is a lively and fun loving venue that embraces music and art under a wide and diverse umbrella that has no boundaries.
The open music policy believes in freedom and creation and holds the belief that music and expression provide useful social interaction.
It is a community ‘non profitmaking’ venue, that holds charitable status, based in Leeds 6.
The Brudenell Social Club is owned by its Members, run by its members, for its members.
The Brudenell is most famous for hosting secret gigs for bands like Franz Ferdinand and the Kaiser Chiefs. However, it has been a centrepiece of the Leeds music scene for a number of years, and hosts gigs most nights of the week, which are put on by a variety of local promoters.
The name Brudenell is said to come from the family of James Thomas Brudenell, who owned Kirkstall Abbey after it ceased to be a monastery in 1539. James Thomas Brudenell was also the Earl of Cardigan. This connection explains why many roads in the Hyde Park area of Leeds are named Cardigan and Brudenell, and therefore how the Brudenell itself got its name.
The Brudenell Social and Recreational Club has a long and varied history and was formed on December 8th, 1913, it bought its first premises and current land shortly afterwards where it is still located today.

Went to the This Feeling gig on Saturday night, it's the first time I have been here, great venue and facilities, staff were friendly and the bands were fab especially the mighty Sunbeam. Would go to an event there again.
The best venue in the world. Such an intimate place. Even when the shows are sold out it’s never uncomfortably packed. Sound is always outstanding. Drinks are ridiculously good value. All of the pool tables and the snooker table are well looked after. This place is an institution and should be protected at all costs
A great pub with a good amount of pool tables that you can use. A great place to have a drink and socialise with friends. This is also a great place to watch live music. I saw Bad Manners here and it was a great gig made with a lively atmosphere and plenty of space to see the band from without any issues. A good venue I would go to again.
Small intimate venue with superb acoustics. Parking isn't the best but security and bar teams were excellent and friendly. Rianne Downey was absolutely fantastic
Our first time at this venue and it most definitely won't be our last! An intermit feel, the sound/acoustics of the room were excellent. An abundance of craft ale, snacks and food. The staff were all polite and friendly and getting served even at very busy times was no issue. A very popular place, if you love live music and haven't been, I highly recommend checking it out, you won't be disappointed.
