Absolutely terrible, firstly the staff couldn’t be more unhelpful. Considering my mum and dad are elderly we were put near a really big party of people even though there was a lot of space! We moved ourselves and then proceeded to go and order, good job I ordered the fish first as you didn’t have any… apparently it was still frozen(?) Anyway given that we left…. And won’t be back!

Table of 5 on a Saturday night, ordering food around 7pm. Unfortunately some of the food we originally wanted had sold out, but the staff were very accommodating with substitution and making sure we were happy. One of us has allergies which some places make very difficult, but the staff here made sure to alter the food "as it comes to suit" a lot of places tend to say, that's how it comes so we won't change it. Service was fairly quick at the bar and the food came in a timely manner given how busy it was. Our group will likely be along on a Wednesday to check out the quiz night.

The steak I ordered was a medium well 8oz sirloin, it arrived and looked horrific like it had been butchered by a rabid dog! It was 35% fat, so I sent it back and asked for another at which point a lady that had been working the bar came and said it was supposed to look like that, I said that I have eaten many steaks and that the steak I was presented was way too fatty she then informed us that she ‘has a food certificate ‘ and supposedly knew what she was talking about then she also completely refused to replace the steak, she explained to us that the rump is less fatty and that I should order that so I said ok but she then informed us that I would have to pay again, I refused and told her to bring back the first steak, then I complained to the people I was with that I wouldn’t feed it to a dog and how i would be leaving a bad review at which point she came back and with a huff she said rudely DO you want me to replace it, I replied that I would like it replaced but not if I would have too pay more. So she said fine it would be 25mins. When I finally got my second steak it was very well done (over done) as opposed to the mid-well I asked for but I could just about eat it, it was incredibly tough but tasted about the same as an average steak would. I informed another member of staff how bad the service from the First Lady was when she questioned weather the food was any better also I love mushrooms but the mushrooms served with the steak were the most vile I have ever eaten (I don’t know how you can mess up mushrooms, they were kind of bitter. I think we were given off mushrooms as they didn’t like our reaction to the food) The starters were delicious (battered mushrooms, halloumi fries and the cauliflower bites) but we were very let down by the service and quality of the steak. Avoid eating here, unless you just get starters and drinks overall I would rate the Wallace 2/10. —after reading the response from Zoe, I was not annoyed because the steak had fat on it, I am well aware that a sirloin cut has fat around it but the steak had a large excess of fat that is not standard, it was also very badly cut, I suggest you find a new supplier for your meat as you sold a disgraceful cut of meat and then tried to act as if I know nothing, as I previously mentioned the steak was at least 1/3rd fat and looked vile. I nearly always get a sirloin steak when I eat out and never have I been served such a low quality cut. I also have a fair knowledge of meat and cuts but there was way too much fat on this steak and you were completely unprofessional and absolutely vile and that fact you are still trying to justify it proves just how much of a fool you are!

Every time I've been here there is an inexplicable wait for everything. I've walked out before now after waiting over 20 minutes at the bar to be served with absolutely no recognition I was even there. Food has been mediocre at best, hit and miss beige, tasteless. Last time I was in there was a table of teenagers (about 13/14yrs) not doing anything but running around the pub playing chase?? They did get asked to leave if they didn't have an adult with them, but one of them ordered food - Bizzare! Think that's been the last resort for me, it's a sizzling disaster.

Lovely local. Our go-to local pub. We come here for birthdays and casual drinks/meals. Came here for mum's birthday dinner today. We all enjoyed it. The food was brilliant and affordable. The drinks were lovely. The service was absolutely brilliant. My uncle was shocked by the quality of food for the prices. He said it was brilliant and he'll be coming back in the near future. We were served by the girls (Victoria and Aimee) and they were so good with both, our at counter services and our table services. Lovely ladies and very polite. Excellent service, honestly couldn't fault them. We were sat in the back garden and it was a beautiful day. The sun shining, and it was a nice relaxing setting. Props to the girls today (Victoria and Aimee) as it was a very hot day, yet they continued on their services with a smile and patience. The Wallace is our favourite local and there's quite a few around here.
