About us

The Walkhampton Inn is a 17th Century free house situated in the heart of Dartmoor National Park. It is located in the picturesque village of Walkhampton which lies on the Black Brook, a tributary of the River Walkham. The pub is a stones throw from the Walkhampton Common, which contains many archaeological sites as well as the quarry from which the granite that built the original London Bridge came. The common also provides many wonderful walk and cycle trails, as well as a unique granite church.

There is a regularly changing local real ale and cider lineup, as well as special cocktails. We welcome dogs and is the perfect place to stop off whilst walking or cycling through.

It is a classic country pub with an open fire and log burner as well and some exposed stone walls. With a warm, welcoming environment, there is no better place to get a feel for what a historic country pub should feel like.

We visited on a Saturday evening. It was busy, with a great atmosphere. The waitress was obviously new, sadly untrained and nervous. It took her an embarrassing 3 attempts to get a simple drinks order correct. Our meals were good, old-fashioned, home cooking. Parking is limited and narrow.

Staff is super friendly and welcoming, the best I had over two weeks around the UK. Room was small but beds very comfy. Food was superb, try the pie! The pub was super relaxed and with a great vibe at night. I will come back when back in the area for sure.

What a fantastic pub to eat and drink in, the landlord was very friendly and the meals were exceptional. I had the homemade chicken and leek pie with chips and peas it was delicious and everything was so reasonably priced including their beer which was very well looked after. I will definitely be recommending this pub to everyone and be going back very soon, although we didn’t book the landlord was very accommodating and sat us quickly. Definitely worth a visit and can’t wait to see the big open fire lit.

An enjoyable meal during the sausage and cider festival. The menu caters for all at very reasonable prices. A hidden Devon gem which provides a good service by polite and friendly staff.

We came here on the offchance for lunch, our first time. Food was really lovely, the pies in particular looked fabulous but I chose fish which was delicious - the bar was well stocked. A very dog friendly pub, we were able to order something for the dog to eat alongside our table in the corner. It was surprisingly busy for a Wednesday lunchtime. The pub is extremely old and pleasantly spiritual somehow. Our lunch was made all the more enjoyable by the hardworking and professional Abbie who despite being on her own was very attentive with a warm and beautiful smile. Thank you Abbie.
