the Waggon dates from the 1850’s and was recently refurbished by Black Country Ales, retaining many of the historical features. One long bar serves three main drinking areas.
The main bar is very narrow with a famous sloping floor. Eighteen handpulls serve three regular ales and ten guests and five real ciders are also available as well as cobs and snacks. There is no car park but there is adequate street parking nearby.
A real, real ale pub. I moved down to the Midlands 15 years ago. I wasn't a regular, but occasionally went in. I went in for a work meeting at lunch time, last week. To me, time has stood still here (In a good way). The ale is still good, it's friendly and the place has a soul. If you are reading this review, it's probably not your local and you would already know about it. It's not somehwere you would come before the waterfront or town, unless your Dad was sorting you out a cheeky pint. Grab a handmade sausage roll, sit by the fire and sup your tangy Voodoo, listening to conversations about nothing, you'll be glad you did...
Love this pub as its a real ale house. Always have a great time here but this visit wasn't so good, mainly because a lot of the beers were not available. It's had several changes of landlord over the last few years so not sure what's going on with the place but the current one is great bloke. Very chatty and knows his beers. Give it a try, even with fewer beers than expected its still a great place. Scotch egg was lovely.
I love Black Country Ales. Their pubs are clean, welcoming and almost always have excellent beer. Had a cracking pint in here. Barman was lovely and had time for everyone who went to the bar. Only had time for one but would go back without hesitation.
Lovely real ales fantastic manager brought back some memories good old fashioned pub always welcoming 5 star for the beer 5 stars for the hospitality Five stars ++++++++
Small, cosy old school pub with a massive selection of beer & cider on tap to choice from. Well stocked bar also carries wide array of cool spirits as well. Atmosphere is pretty chill and there is nice background music too. Lot of character to this place. Service was pretty fast even when I last visited on a recent Friday night. Staff seem pretty sound. Very reasonable prices too.
