it left me with mixed feelings. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate my experience a 6/10 or 3 out of 5. Here's why: First and foremost, the restaurant boasts a stunning ambiance. The interior is adorned with beautiful flowers everywhere, and the color scheme is simply gorgeous. The overall decor and scenery create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Upon entering, I was greeted with excellent service from the staff. They were polite, friendly, and eager to assist, which added a positive note to the start of my dining experience. However, the positive aspects began to fade as the evening progressed. One notable issue was their approach to handling allergies. When I inquired about allergen information, I was handed a massive, messy binder that proved difficult to use and navigate. The binder seemed poorly organized, and it was especially challenging to find information on event-specific food items. Furthermore, some items on the menu were missing from the allergen menu altogether, which made it less than reliable. Another downside was the table arrangement. The tables were placed extremely close together, to the point where it became uncomfortable. At one point, the person sitting next to me accidentally knocked over the battery-powered lights on my table when leaving, which was a clear indication of the limited space between tables. My disappointment reached its peak when I ordered dessert. To my surprise, the main ingredients of the dessert were missing, and I was not informed of this before ordering or before the food was served. It felt akin to ordering a steak and receiving only the accompanying chips. What was even more frustrating was that there was no apology for this oversight. Despite the mistake, the dessert was still added to the bill, along with a service charge for a two-person meal, which left me feeling further dissatisfied. In conclusion, Victors Restaurant in Newcastle certainly has its merits, including its stunning decor and friendly initial service. However, it falls short in crucial areas such as handling allergies, table arrangement, and communication regarding menu items. The lack of acknowledgment for mistakes made during the meal also left a sour taste. While it's not a terrible place to dine, it didn't quite meet my expectations, earning it a rating of 6/10 or 3 out of 5.
All in all its alright, even during restaurant week its overpriced. Staff very friendly and always at hand. The atmosphere is nice, really well done. Almost an outdoor indoor feel. Don't sit too close to the door as you often feel a draft and get a wiff of smoke. Food was very mixed. Starters, Popcorn chicken. Really good and good portions. Sushi rolls nice good portion lots of flavour. Yuzu lemon chicken. Tasted good, cooked well however it needs to be ordered with a side. Slightly better than nandos Teriyaki salmon was over cooked and again needed to be ordered with a side as the two bits of broccoli was pitiful.
Most tasteless Sunday roast I've ever had. No seasoning on any of the veg or potato...just plain boiled. No taste to the gravy. Roast beef was a nice consistency but almosted tasted boiled - again no flavour at all and this was the opinion of all 3 of us. Truffle mac n cheese was so dry, no flavour again. Overall very disappointing considering it looked like it was going to be lovely and cost £22 for one course
Popped in for cocktails today and it was excellent. So much choice. My favourite was the Lemon Cheesecake Martini. The guy behind the bar was very friendly and made great cocktails. He knew his stuff.
Just had small plates and drinks, incredible selection of both and all tasted great. Waiter recommended the beef as well, looked specular and we're good cuts.
