We booked out the private 'Gallery' room for a breakfast for a large group. The room itself and the food was lovely, however we were disappointed to arrive and feel like no one was expecting us. The building had to be opened up, no one came to explain where to get drinks, we had to head over to the other part of the pub to ask about what to do, and we were left to our own devices until the food arrived (after a long wait). We tried to contact the Vestry privately to offer feedback so that other groups get a much more welcoming service, however we were disappointed to not get a reply or acknowledgement. So unfortunately, we wouldn't be able to recommend the private group/function option.
There for a private function. Good bar and six luxurious rooms above, who knew?! And a perk (maybe), you can have booze with your breakfast because it has Smithfield Market next door, so licensed from 7.00am :)
Over complicated cocktails at high price, in a soulless cold bar with slow service. The bartenders seem to don’t care, they are probably employed on minimum wage and not getting their cut on the tips. The bar was mostly empty on a Wednesday after work.
Love this little gem. Nestled next to its much noisier neighbour the Fox & Anchor, this place does excellent sharing platters (try the truffle toast in baked camembert) and you can always get a little space in the Gallery at the back, even on a Friday night. Camden Pale and Hells on draft and solid cocktails. You can be queuing at the bar for a bit though... Recommended.
Great place. Went on a Wednesday night, so can't speak for busier nights (although was surprised it wasn't more full, as it looks lovely both inside and out). Good bar staff, happy to bring drinks over to table when it was quiet enough. Music was nice, not too loud, just enough to keep a nice atmosphere. I wouldn't say drinks were cheap, but pretty much standard pricing for cocktails in London these days. Classy location that will impress anyone you bring along
