The Untraditional Pub lives within the innovative CRATE St James Street development. Our orange social hub occupies a unit in CRATE's modular site alongside a community of local businesses, from food vendors to hairdressers. The all-weather roof terrace regularly hosts live music acts and diverse events.
We serve our full range of Pillars lagers in our bar, along with a selection of the best craft beer, gin, wine and cider. Our craft beer shop showcases the best of British breweries, bringing you unique brews and our favourite bottled beers from around the world.
CRATE is mainly a walk-in site with plenty of seating areas to choose from. You can simply turn up, find a table and enjoy fresh beer from a local brewery! If you have a group of six people or more then it is possible to pre-book a table using the CRATE online booking system.

Good local drinking spot. Friendly staff and great beer selection along with non low alc options.
I haven't been inside the actual pub yet as I have only sat outside on the terrace for the monthly pub quiz. However, the terrace is a nice place for a drink when it's warm and not windy. The pub has a good selection of beers including a very nice porter. You can order entirely from your table using your phone.
Had an amazing guest hibiscus IPA from one of our favourite East London breweries, Deviant & Dandy. Spoiled for choice of DOZENS of unique and tasty craft beers, a lot of Pillars who are the principal brewery here. What a gem to have in Walthamstow. Heated patio as well with lots of vegan food options. All vegan beers labels clearly as well. 10/10
The idea of constructing a business unit out of shipping containers is great. After making my way up to the first floor found the pub. Sadly, was unable to pay for the pint that they poured for me as they don't accept cash. Will not revisit until they do!
Great place to visit, good beers and great seating area with other shops nearby to get food from. Plan your visit specially if your going at busy times and the opening times are updated so make sure you don’t turn up when they are closed.
