The Black Bull is a traditional village pub with fantastic real ales and a good wine list. Good food every Thursday night & famous Sunday Lunches. A friendly and warm welcome is assured. A great place to visit or become a regular!

Welcome to The Black Bull at Matfen, a traditional family-run pub in the heart of Matfen Village. With two real fires, and a small and cosy bar, we aim to serve the best local ales along with well-known brands at realistic prices. Sunday lunch is the focus of our food offering, with a huge traditional roast dinner on offer every week. Thursday nights between 6-9pm offers the very best of our menus from the past. There are at least five really special meals to choose from, all cooked to order and served in our intimate dining room. Everything we serve is home-made and we really care about the quality of the ingredients we use. Dogs are very warmly welcomed, and snacks and a drink are available for your four-legged best friend too. Games are available to use, such as cards, dominoes, Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble and more to waste those weekend afternoons away!

Come and discover what a proper country pub should be like. Looking forward to meeting you soon.
