About us

Surrounded by fields and with the river Thames flowing just outside our door, our menus make the most of fresh fish and local game, while our cosy bar and boutique guest rooms are the perfect place to relax in classic Cotswold comfort.

We are well placed to explore the upper reaches of the river, whether sailing along it (we have four moorings reserved for guests) or following the tow path that runs alongside it. We’re also a great base for exploring pretty villages, including the market town that features in the period BBC drama Downton Abbey, and the wider countryside for walking, cycling and horse riding adventures. And don’t miss the opportunity for a spot of fly fishing in the gin-clear waters of local chalkstreams.

Today we went to The Trout for lunch for the first time. We had a really friendly welcome and help with the menu as one of our guests was gluten and dairy intolerant. Ellie was our waitress who was a breath of fresh air, she was very polite and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be returning. Lovely pub, good food, great team.

Lovely environment and lovely food. My Dad really enjoyed the food (he’s a tough critic) as did we all. Ellie’s service was great. She was very helpful and friendly/polite. Many thanks. Also, extra points for allowing dogs ☺️

Our visit to Tadpole Bridge was an absolute delight. Kaylee's exceptional hospitality from the moment we stepped in made us feel truly welcome. Despite our initial concerns about not having reservations, the staff, including Kaylee, went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was seamless. Kaylee's assistance in selecting dishes, particularly the Chicken Burger and Chicken Thighs, added a personalized touch to our evening. The Chicken Burger was a savory masterpiece, while the Chicken Thighs were cooked to perfection, showcasing the culinary expertise in the kitchen. The neat and upscale ambiance of the palace added a touch of sophistication to our dining experience, though it comes at a higher price point. Tadpole Bridge, with its welcoming atmosphere, attentive service, proved to be a memorable dining destination. Kaylee's warmth and the tantalizing flavors make it a place worth revisiting.

Stayed for a three night break with the purpose of visiting Oxford and surrounding area. Friendly welcome on arrival; shown to our room which was spacious and well decorated. Ate in the pub on two nights. Excellent choices on the menu. Both night we ate very well, quality of food was high. Service was efficient and very friendly. With a hearty selection for breakfast this pub offers excellent value for money. Throughout our visit the staff were friendly and affable. Will certainly look to stay in one of their sister hotels.

The Sunday roast at this charming, country pub was an absolute delight. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a cozy atmosphere. The traditional British roast was cooked to perfection, with succulent slices of tender pork, crispy crackling, deep Yorkshire puddings, and a medley of perfectly roasted vegetables. The rich gravy added an extra layer of deliciousness to the already flavoursome dish. The portion size was generous, leaving us feeling fully satisfied. The pub's charm and friendly service made for a truly memorable birthday experience. A must-visit for anyone craving a hearty Sunday roast in a stunningly picturesque setting.
